ADD and ADHD - the silver lining behind the cloud

Up to one in 20 children have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which affects concentration and can cause them to be disruptive. A BBC reported cited that almost 50% of children affected with ADHD have been excluded at some point. Many are put on medication.

At Life Strengths Academy we believe every cloud has a silver lining. Richard Branson found a way of making his ADHD work for him rather than spending his life trying to suppress it. And he is not alone, most geniuses, artists and entrepreneurs have the ADHD gene.

We aim to help young people with ADHD and ADD channel their creative energy into supporting themselves and developing their focus for academic work.

"We were all very impressed with the level of concentration and focus that the children displayed Their Class Teachers .. have noticed a significant improvement in their level of confidence and motivation since their participation in the A4Achievement Programme.."
Mrs E Docherty, Deputy Head, Merlin Primary School

Sometimes lack of motivation and disruptive behaviour can be caused by inter-personal conflict.

"Before, I used to hate this teacher, so bad I couldn't think of anything good about her. But now..., I could hardly think anything bad about her and I can now think some good things, and now when I see her, I think flat. This session was very helpful."
Victor I, aged 13 years
